Virginity : Badge of Honour

According to definition, the state of not having had a sexual intercourse is called virginity. The person who is in a state of virginity is called virgin. The term is associated with females mainly because of the presence or absence of hymen which determines virginity. The hymen is a membrane which covers the opening of the vagina which is the female reproductive organ.

The 20th century generation which would be us are hesitant to talk about such "sensitive" and "controversial" topics. Your reaction would be "Obviously!". What if I ask the question "why?" for that reaction. Do you have an answer? After taking some time you would say "because its related with sex thus sex and sex related topics should'nt be discussed in public". Well, sad to break it you but thats exactly where you got yourself wrong. Because, you see, this exact mentality will eventually lead you to judge women knowingly or unknowingly. It does'nt stop here... You'll pass remarks, treat them differently, would be partial while take decisions regarding her, would say double-standard remarks about her to other people, and the list goes on... So what you should do then?

Allow me to clear your dilemma from your already confused and tired mind. No.. not with a magic wand or by ending this post anytime soon (such an innocent fool you are! aww). However, there are various myths regarding virginity. For example, the most common one is if the hymen of a woman is intact that means she is a virgin and pure. Whereas, the opposite case would be a ruptured virgin indicating a non-virgin and impure. Worry not.. I have shared a useful video from TedX talks. Its only of 12 minutes cause duh! we're all busy bees. It's extremely useful and everyone should know. Plus, you'd be extra smart after knowing this (BONUS!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBQnQTkhsq4

Assuming that you've watched the video and then returned to my post for further enlightment, there are other sides than just the anatomical facts and the actual truth revolving virginity. Its the way how each human percieves it and the women concerning. For the sake of arguement let's say that every person is unique and sex is something which is common, a natural desire of every human being. Fully Agreed! Every human being have basic things hard-wired into them like care, empathy, desires,  etc. So when a woman based upon her desires, principles and beliefs takes a decision being in her conscious mind... should we judge her? Should we evaluate her based only on whether she is virgin or not? Is it really fair? No, it is simply not... so, does the scenario changes if we take the cases of rape into account? No, it still remains the same. The "same" is whether a women is a virgin, non-virgin, rape-victim and God knows how many more different kinds of situations are present in this world which leads to the losing of virginity of women we should respect them and treat them equally. Irrespective of age, occupation, region, etc., no women should be discriminited on grounds like virginity which is actually a small part in any person's personality.

Now, some may say that losing virginity changes a person and her soul changes. We cant know that for sure and even if we know, people around her should respect that change and adjust themselves if they love for what she is. A peice of skin inside a vagina whether its broken or not doesn't matter. Whether she was raped or had sex with a/multiple partners doesn't matter. Just because in some ways determination of a woman's virginity can be done doesn't give anyone a right or reason to treat her differently. Just because virginity can't be applied on men and applies on women it doesn't mean that we forget the basic human emotion called compassion. Think... what if women starts judging and nake choices based upon if men are virgin or not. Think if women ask men the foremost question about their virginity because that becomes the basis of the bond which might or might not be created, then how would men feel?

Whatever happens to women, before judging her, put yourself into their shoes, think and then act.
